I have recently read a book named ‘Demisthyfying Myths’ written by a well-known non-fiction writer from India, Amit Bagaria. The book is really different in nature than the ordinary league of fiction and non-fiction writings in India. Surprisingly, it serves a purpose, offers information and is equally interesting to read contrary to the nature of non-fiction titles I have read. The author has tried to present the truth before the readers that may sound difficult to believe but a little bit of research can make you believe in it. So, let’s learn more about this title – Demythsifying Myths: Demystifying 18 Myths about India.
The book discusses the well-known 18 myths about India from different sectors and different time periods. However, one thing that connects the dots between them is a deliberate attempt was made to maintain the status quo of ignorance about these facts. Amit Bagaria hits his nails of truth hard on these mists of myths and tears the lies open in his book. And this is why many leading book review websites in India have turned their pages red in appreciation for this book.
Though some facts discussed in the book are well-known to all but people do not have any authentic evidence to accept it. Like, the love life (or the affairs) of Indira Gandhi and her father, ‘Pandit’ J. L. Nehru, death of Subhash Chandra Bose and Gandhi becoming a Mahatma – when and how? The book also tries to bring to the open many cases of political assassinations that were carried out by the political dispensations in India. The issues of Kashmir and Hindu Rashtra will also be nice to read for many readers who are new to these ideas.
A lot of speculation and anticipation have already been done by the Indians but we hardly found any book that could say all these things publicly, with some authority in the store. And this is exactly that Amit Bagaria’s book Demythsifying Myths does. And I will also highlight that Amit has done it calmly, with a cool attitude and also in a simplified language so that his content reaches to as many readers as possible.
He moves ahead with a determination to one by one busting all the myths with a proper citation from different books and also, as a drawback, some unknown or undisclosed sources. But the language and the authority and also expertise in political writing are the things make this book a must-read for the truth seeker. All those who really want to know what was the reason that Gandhi Nehru family has ruled India for more than 60 years? Why most of the chapters of Indian freedom struggle talks about only Nehru and Gandhi and not anyone else? What was the reason behind it? And the major question is why still some people try to present them as a sole saviour of the Indian republic despite knowing the fact what they have done to our nation?
If you really want to know the answers to these questions and there is a thrust inside you to quench your desire and face the truth, then you just cannot skip this outstanding book.
